Miguel Pires
Researcher
Instituto Superior Técnico
Miguel is a master’s student in Transportation Systems, currently developing his dissertation on the functional characteristics of roads, streets, and networks, in the scope of the project Streets4All. Entitled “Profiling urban networks and streets/corridors: a Link and Place based analysis”, it aims to add a layer of information to traditional transport and urban planning processes, leading to clearer city strategies and better allocation of resources.
His interest in these themes was motivated by his background in Geography and Regional Planning at NOVA University of Lisbon (UNL).
In his personal life, Miguel enjoys sports, nature and outdoor activities. On days when he feels less energetic, he likes to consume fantasy and sci-fi content, considering himself a movie score aficionado.
Research Interests:
- Impacts of transportation on housing
- Shared economy solutions for urban problems
- Role of active mobility in boosting local economies
